Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid
Panel 1: The Ammo-Silenced Assassin & PBP Guards
The Ammo-Silenced Assassin infiltrates the city wall and spots guards actively building the peptidoglycan wall structure.
Drug & Target: "Ammo-Silenced Assassin" represents Amoxicillin (an aminopenicillin). The guards building the wall represent Penicillin-Binding Proteins (PBPs) synthesizing the bacterial peptidoglycan cell wall.
Panel 2: Freezing the Builders (Mechanism of Action)
He freezes the PBP guards in their tracks, causing wall construction to halt completely.
Mechanism of Action: Amoxicillin binds to PBPs, blocking transpeptidation and peptidoglycan cross-linking to produce a bactericidal effect on dividing bacteria.
Panel 3: The Shield Squad & Lava-Acid Club
Reinforcements with Beta-Lactam shields rush in to block him, so he draws his trusty Club dipped in lava and acid.
Resistance & Inhibitor: Resistant bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes ("Beta-Lactam Shield Squad") to degrade penicillins. The "Lava & Acid Club" represents Clavulanic Acid.
Panel 4: Melting the Shields (Synergy)
He strikes with his acid club, melting the shields and destroying the elite guards.
Beta-Lactamase Inhibition: Clavulanic acid irreversibly binds and inactivates β-lactamases, preventing amoxicillin degradation.
Panel 5: Restored Spectrum (Synergistic Power)
With the shields melted, the assassin unlocks his full potential, something he couldn't have achieved on his own.
Extended Spectrum: Co-amoxiclav restores amoxicillin activity against β-lactamase-producing organisms (e.g., E. coli, M. catarrhalis).
Panel 6: The Giant Eagle (Specific Pathogens)
In desperation, enemies summon a giant avian eagle to strike from above, but the fully empowered assassin defeats it.
Pathogen Coverage: The giant eagle represents Haemophilus influenzae (bird-associated mnemonic), a key β-lactamase-producing respiratory pathogen effectively covered by this combination.
Panel 7: The Healing Mist (Clinical Indications)
He rescues suffering prisoners using a healing mist that travels through the nose, into the lungs, through the bloodstream/kidneys, and onto external wounds.
Clinical Indications: Covers acute sinusitis (nose), pneumonia/bronchitis (lungs), urinary tract infections (kidneys), and skin/soft tissue or bite infections (external wounds).
Panel 8: Rotten Food at Home (Adverse Effects)
Returning home victorious, he eats spoiled food and suffers from severe stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Adverse Effects: Disruption of normal gut flora leads to frequent gastrointestinal side effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis), with clavulanic acid particularly contributing to diarrhea.
